Chapter 1
What is Compliance Verification?
Compliance Verification is a separately scoped professional assessment undertaken after remediation or another defined compliance activity has been completed.
The observed condition and available evidence are assessed against the verification criteria identified for the engagement. Conclusions are recorded together with supporting evidence, limitations and any unresolved non-conformances.
Key Principle
Chapter 2
Verification Activities
- Review of the agreed verification criteria
- Inspection of accessible and visible completed work
- Review of contractor-submitted evidence
- Review of relevant manufacturer and test documentation as evidence
- Comparison of observed conditions with the available supporting evidence
- Recording verified, unverified and non-conforming outcomes
- Updating the Building Compliance Record within the agreed scope
- Preparation of an independent verification report
Chapter 3
Point-in-Time Boundaries
Verification is limited to the agreed scope, accessible and visible conditions, defined criteria, evidence available and the date of assessment. It does not guarantee future compliance or create an ongoing duty to monitor the installation.
Verification does not replace statutory certification, constitute engineering design or engineering approval, approve construction methodology, accept contractor workmanship or transfer responsibility for installation and remediation to the Professional Practice.
Chapter 4
Product and Documentary Evidence
Manufacturer information, test reports and technical documents may be reviewed as evidence supporting an assessment of the observed installation.
That review is not product manufacture, supply, endorsement, approval, certification, suitability determination or warranty. It does not constitute acceptance of contractor methodology, installation or workmanship.
Chapter 5
Access, Hazards and Reliance
Verification does not include asbestos identification, assessment, testing, sampling, monitoring or advice. Known or suspected hazardous materials must be disclosed before access is provided, and the assessment may be stopped, deferred or restricted where hazardous-material conditions or safe access require it.
Verification reports are prepared for the engaging party and agreed purpose. They may be reviewed by authorised recipients, but no third party may rely upon them without prior written consent from the Professional Practice.
Need independent verification?
If passive fire remediation has been completed and requires a defined, evidence-based assessment, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss an ENG-004 verification engagement.
